Hello out there, has any one tried Gabapentin for Fibromyalgia. I have been taking Amitriptyline 50mg for a few years without it being a great help so my GP has agreed to let me try this, I am trying a low dose 100mg 1 tab for 3 days 2 tabs for 3 days going up to 3 tabs daily and to lower the Amitriptyline by 10mg at the same time. I have finished at work now untill the new year and have waited in case I have a bad reaction like sleeping all day but without the pain. I'm willing to try it out, my physio has told me it is good for nerve pain and worth a try, wouln't it be wonderful if it works. Glenys.

Hi Glenys,
I can't help with Gabapentin, I don't take it but I just wanted to wish you well with it. I have read good reports of it and hope it works really well for you.
Love, Doreen xx

Hi Glenys, I have not personally taken this, but my dad got it for severe nerve pain in his mouth. He was in dire agony, and he is a tough cookie that nothing gets him down. But with that pain he was in brought to his knees. He took it the same as you are taking it, in stepped up doses. It worked amazing and along with your Amitriptyline I am sure you will have a similar response. He was told about Amitriptyline, it was to be the next step if things didn't settle. You don't take codeine do you as when he was on an assortment along with that and paracetamol, he ended up totally spaced out with it. I had called and the doctor told him to stick with the Gabapentin once things settled down. Hope this is a help to you. Take care Lorna

Hi Glenys
I've just been talking to a friend of mine who has fibro and she has been on Gabapentin for about 3 months now. The GP has gradually increased her dose, and she says the pain levels have decreased considerably. She wouldn't want to be without it now.
Take care and fingers crossed that this works well for you.
Love Jeanxx

Thank you for your replies, I will be very pleased if I get such good results. Lorna I am taking Tramadol and paracetamol, I am leaving off the Naproxen, because of that I have even more pain bt at least I am not at work until the new year. Glenys. x

Hi
I take Gabapentin for nerve pain. It is the BEES KNEES.
You build up slowly, the first time I had it I felt quite giddy and did wonder if it might become too much as I went up the doses but actually giddiness has been short lived and now I dont get any at all and on 900 a day.
It doesnt make me drowsy and have had no other side effects. It really is a total drug success story for me! and I dont always do too well on the meds!

Hello Jenni, I hope it works for me too, I am a bit concerned that it may make me dizzy, I might not know if it's the virtigo but I haven't felt a thing on the100mg. Fingers crossed. I often think of you Jenni and wonder how you cope. Take care and I hope that your Christmas is happy and that you are as comfortable as you can be. Glenys.x
